Why do I need to make sure my electrical system is up to code?
It is necessary to have your electrical system within your home or business up to code for safety reasons. Faulty outlets, switches, and circuit breakers have been know to start fires if left unattended. Be aware of your electrical system and take the necessary preventative steps. Follow the safety tab at the top of this page for more information.
Why do I need a GFCI outlet?
GFCI outlets were created to prevent long term injury or death. Areas within your home or business are required to have a GFCI outlet within six feet of every tub or basin. The GFCI is designed to trip in the event that water is sensed across the hot and neutral connections of your device or outlet.
Are LED lights worth it?
LEDs use 75% less energy and last 25 times as long as incandescent lights. On average, homeowners save about $1000 over a decade by converting their lights to LEDs. If you currently have metal halide or fluorescent lights that require a ballast, LED lights will be the right fit for you. You will not have to pay for expensive ballasts anymore.
How do I find the right electrical company?
Make sure that the company you contract to perform any work on your home or business is licensed by the state or municipality where you reside. The state of Texas requires that all electrical companies hold an active Texas state masters and contractors license along with a minimum of $300,000 in general liability insurance. You can ask the company that you contract for a copy of their insurance policy.
